Stop and Look at Me!

One of my favorite things in motherhood is walking into my kid’s rooms in the morning. There is nothing sweeter than seeing that BIG smile flash across their face when they spot you.

Our baby is starting to smile from ear to ear. It’s the most beautiful and heartwarming thing to see her smile when I call her name in the morning. I usually stop and talk to her before I take her out of her crib.

Because I know as soon as I get her out and start walking down the stairs she will be searching for her brother and sister.

One morning as we walked downstairs, I wanted her to look at me as I was talking to her. Instead she was turning her head from side to side.

She was too busy looking for her siblings. Even with my best efforts she wouldn’t stop and look at me.

Being a mom is a lot of work! How do we find time to sit with God in the busyness of life? Encouragement for moms.

This got me thinking. I’m sure many days God feels the same way. He’s calling out for our attention, but we are too busy looking back and forth. We miss His efforts because we are looking in the wrong places.

Are you seeking his face on a daily basis?

More days than I’d like to admit I rush through this part of my morning to “get on with my day.”

He LOVES when we let go of all our to-do lists and selfish ambitions to spend time with Him. When we sit and be still in His presence.

Seek His Face Always

But we are told to “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always,” 1 Chronicles 16:11 (NIV).

Our creator knows exactly what we need. What if we stopped looking right and left, but instead looked right at Him? What vision would He give us? Where would He lead us?

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. 1 Chronicles 16:11 Scripture on spending quality time with God.

If we want to live the abundant life He promised, we must seek His face always. We must stop and look.

I’m challenging myself to do this more often. To stop trying to do ALL the things and just sit with God. He will show me what to do next.
