Life Lately: Fun Indoors

I’m ready for spring! How about you? I love how beautiful the snow is, but as I’ve said many times before I love sun more. Our daughter loves spending time outside which I am very grateful for. I saw in the weather forecast the high is supposed to be near 50 on Sunday and trust me if it’s not raining we are going to soak up every bit of it.

Window-ClingsIn the meantime we have been creating new fun adventures indoors. We recently bought some $1 gummy hearts from the Target dollar bins and I can’t tell you how much play we have gotten out of them. Our daughter loves to take them on and off the window. She has also rediscovered her love for reading! Right after she learned to walk she didn’t like sitting still for a story. Now multiple times a day she brings me books to read to her and we always squeeze in some bedtime stories.

These are her top 3 favorite books right now {affiliate links}:

  • Eating the Alphabet: I’m a big fan of this one as well because it has so many delicious and healthy fruits and vegetables. Our daughter love to label and point out the fruit she knows on each page. Apple and blueberry seem to be her favorite right now.
  • Fisher Price Little People Noah and the Animals (Lift-the-Flap): I have to admit I sometimes secretly hide this book when our daughter is napping. I’ve pretty much memorized it by now and unlike my daughter I don’t love to read it 50 times each day. But I love what she loves and it is fun to lift the flaps.
  • That’s My Daddy!: Izzy recently has been pulling this book off the shelves more. It is super cute and she loves pointing out all she knows in the book.

We also recently made a trip to Mia and Pop’s house. It’s always nice to get some grandparent love and some rest and pampering in (thanks Mom and Dad!). I’m not sure if I’ve shared this before on Heart of Deborah, but I love what my parents did to their steps with vinyl word art. Izzy loves climbing the stairs and hearing about the fruit of the spirit. As a side note, it’s almost impossible to get her to “sit” for a picture when she could be climbing.

What have you been up to this winter?

How are you beating the winter blues?
