Happy 3rd Birthday

I always loved keeping a journal and looking back at it to see how things changed or to reflect on sweet memories. This is one of my favorite things about blogging. I have a digital scrapbook of how our family is growing and the fun memories we are making together. Although our daughter’s birthday was last week I wanted to share a quick recap and write her a letter for her 3rd birthday.

Dear Izzy,

Happy 3rd birthday! I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since your entered this world and made me a mother. You are such a sweetheart and it’s been so much fun seeing your personality blossom the last few years. Everyone jokes that you look like your daddy, but act like your mommy. Not a bad combo 😉

First it should be noted how much you LOVE your brother. You always want to know where he is when you wake up and although there are occasional “arguments” you guys are so sweet together. You love showing him all of your tricks!

Izzy you are so full of life and your expressive joy is contagious. You always know how to make us laugh and you love to play. It is amazing how well you play by yourself. You have no problem engaging in play independently for an hour. Right now your favorite things are buying groceries in your kitchen, singing your babies and stuffed animals to sleep, playing with your fruit pie and crafting any art project you can think of! You also love being outside and going swimming.

Your favorite food is definitely peanut butter and jelly, but for the most part you are an adventurous eater. You will eat almost all of the meals we prepare for dinner and you have a very refined taste for a toddler. You will eat a raw red onion, suck on a lemon without a problem and chump down a jar of pickles! It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t talk about your love for cake. When asked what your favorite part of the party was you immediately answered CAKE. We had a delicious strawberry shortcake.

When I was growing up your Bop and Uncle Alex nicknamed me Miss Melodramatic Lauren. You have a touch of this in you as well. 🙂 Though I believe your joy and energy will help you conquer great things in life! We love watching you grow and learn and can’t wait to create even more memories together.

Happy birthday sweetheart!

Love,
Your Mama
