Fun Breakfast Ideas Featuring Disney’s Lion Guard!
“I’m gonna be the mane event like no king was before. I’m brushing up on looking down, I’m working on my ROAR!”
I grew up on Disney’s The Lion King and I still know all the words to the songs. When I found out Disney was creating a series featuring Simba’s son Kion I was thrilled. My Daughter loves watching Disney Channel on Friday mornings to see the latest episodes of the Lion Guard. So I thought to myself, why not make Friday a little more fun? We’ve partnered with Disney Junior to make these healthy and fun breakfast ideas in celebration of FRiYAYs this summer!
Make all 3 recipes or just 1! Either way, I notice when I make fun food with my daughter she is more likely to eat a healthy breakfast. 🙂
Pride Rock Recipe
13-15 pitted dates
3/4 cup raw slivered almonds
1 heaping tablespoon peanut butter
1/4 cup dried unsweetened cherries
1 1/2 teaspoons flax seeds
1 Tablespoon of mini chocolate chips
1 teaspoon honey (optional)
Directions: Place the pitted dates in your food processor or blender. Add a splash of water. Grind up into small pieces for about 30 seconds. Add the raw slivered almonds, peanut butter, dried unsweetened cherries, flax seed and honey. Grind for another 45-60 seconds. Use a tablespoon to scoop out some of the batter and roll into a ball. Repeat until batter is gone. Cool in the fridge for 30 minutes and serve! Store leftovers in the fridge.
Sunrise Smoothie Recipe
Yellow Ingredients:
1/3 cup banana
1/3 cup pineapple (fresh or frozen)
1/3 cup mango (fresh or frozen)
1 tablespoon yogurt
3 ice cubes (if banana isn’t frozen)
1/2 cup water or almond milk
Orange Ingredients:
1/2 of an orange
1/4 cup mango (frozen or fresh)
1 medium carrot
5 ice cubes (if banana isn’t frozen)
1/2 cup water or almond milk
Red Ingredients:
1/3 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1/4 cup raspberries (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup banana
1 tablespoon yogurt
3 ice cubes (if banana isn’t frozen)
1/2 cup water or almond milk
*Makes approximately three 12-ounce smoothies.
Directions: First, mix the yellow smoothie in your blender. Then pour into 3 separate glasses. Next, mix the orange smoothie and carefully add to yellow smoothie in your glasses. Lastly, blend the red smoothie ingredients. It may not make perfect layers, but that is okay. It adds an artistic touch to your sunrise when the colors blend together. Izzy loved drinking her African sunrise smoothie!
