Baby Boy Nursery Decorations

Our baby boy’s room is finished. I am so excited to have his room ready and in 5 1/2 weeks we will hopefully be meeting baby boy! As you may know we recently moved and it has been somewhat crazy trying to unpack and organize with a toddler running around. There are still a few things we may add to the boy’s room, but I would like to say it is finished. This post will give you a tour of his room and highlight some of my favorite features.

Designing Your Baby's Nursery: Rustic Baby Boy Nursery Decorations. Heart of DeborahI really like the two tone baby crib in white and walnut. We chose this crib from Babyletto because we wanted something eco friendly and unique. I love the style of the crib and the fact that it is green guard certified. It is important to us to find furniture that won’t off gas toxic chemicals. That is one of the reasons we love our Moonlight Slumber Simplicity Latex Crib Mattress. Our daughter tested it out for a week in our old house and she slept wonderfully. Read more about why we chose to go with an organic crib mattress.

We wanted to go with a rustic look for the baby boy’s room and I really wanted to find some old wood from my pop-pop’s barn. How cool is the wooden pallet on the wall? Once the baby is born we are going to add his initial to the pallet. I still can’t decide if I want to paint it or attach a wooden letter. What do you think? The rocking chair was from one of our family friends and I couldn’t resist buying the lion pillow from the Pottery Barn Kids outlet.

We decided to go with bedding from Burt’s Bees Baby (BBB). We love their incredibly soft, organic and affordable kid’s line of clothing and bedding. Izzy has worn a few outfits from Burt’s Bees Baby and my favorite burp cloths are by far the ones from BBB. I wish you could feel how soft the fabric is! The dottie bee baby quilt in baby boy’s room is adorable and again amazingly soft. Izzy loves to pull it off her baby brother’s crib and snuggle on top of it.

We love Burt's Bees Baby clothes and bedding!

We purchased this dresser from a thrift store for $20. I had high hopes for it, but I was a little unsure because we never did a furniture make-over before. My husband did an excellent job, don’t you think!? He sanded down the entire dresser and used a walnut stain to match the crib. Then he spray painted the dresser drawers white. I love how it turned out and it goes so well with the crib.

Baby Boy Dresser Before and After Pictures. Furniture Make-Over at Heart of Deborah

As you may know I love chalkboard art and I wanted to add some scripture to our baby boy nursery decorations. I bought this white frame from a yard sale for $3. I painted the inside with black chalkboard paint and then created a design on the computer. Using carbon paper and chalkboard pens I crafted this print with the scripture from Isaiah 60:1. On top of the dresser, the lamp is from Target and the basket is from Hobby Lobby.

Here are a few more pictures of the baby boy’s room. Aren’t the stars on the wall cool? We spray painted the metal star white and I added the blue trim to the small wooden star. The star that lights up was 50% off at Michaels. I hope you enjoyed this baby boy nursery tour. We can’t wait for his arrival!

  1. I’m. Obsessed. The stars and the wood panel are so awesome and what a great transformation on that dresser!!!! Love it 🙂

  2. Super cute!! Right now our son’s nursery is the storage room for all the baby things we’ve been accumulating 🙂 Come September 1, though, it’s full steam ahead putting it all together! We just moved, too – I feel ya! I love the pallet on the wall! My vote is to hang a painted wooden letter 😉
