5 Month Update

I’m sure I say this every month, but how I can’t believe IJ is already 5 months old! The saying the days feel long, but the months and years go fast is very true. Our sweet baby boy seems so much older all of a sudden. No longer a baby who wants to snuggle all day. He wants to move!

How do you soak in the moments? I’ve shared my thoughts on trying to live in the moment, but it’s not always easy. If I’m being honest some days I just want to put them both in front of the TV so I can get a few minutes to myself. Other days I love seeing every precious moment and I’m so grateful for my two energetic kids. I guess that’s just life right? It’s not always easy, but God gives us special moments that melt our hearts making all the hard times worth it.

Family-5-months
You were dedicated at the end of January and family came to visit 🙂

Anyway, back to the update! This past month IJ has started to scoot. He can’t get very far, but if he sees something he wants he does his best to tuck his legs and lunge forward. He is still a very content baby and he loves watching his sister. I didn’t think it was possible this early, but he is also starting  to show some signs of stranger anxiety. If I’m being honest I think it’s kind of cute when he starts to whine and reach his arms out toward me (at least for now). He seems to be very socially aware and he usually greets others with a big smile.

IJ is still loving his first foods and so far there isn’t anything he won’t eat. He even eats the not so appetizing jar of green beans! IJ sleeps through the night for which I am VERY thankful. I function best when I have 7-8 hours of sleep. He doesn’t take the best naps, usually about an hour long, but I really can’t complain because he is typically happy when he is awake. He seems to love the same toys his sister did at 5 months old, anything that crinkles and fits in his mouth. He is also starting to experiment with sounds. We’ve heard dada, mama and baba. His favorite seems to be baba.

Thumb-Sucker
You recently discovered your thumb. It looks like we have another finger sucker in the family.

Lastly, he is still a very big boy! He wears mostly 9-12 month clothing. IJ weighs 20.4 pounds and he is 27.8 inches long. I can’t believe next month he will be half a year old.

How do you savor the baby snuggles?
