Animal Sound Books

Many kids love animals and making the different animal sounds. Although our daughter is making big strides in her vocabulary she hasn’t mastered many animal sounds. I thought one way she could learn new sounds is by reading about them in books. We love adding new books to our library. Now we just need to get our busy toddler to sit still for longer than 30 seconds to read to her. Another mom recently shared with a great tip with me: read to your children in the bathtub! It’s one of the only times where they sit still and you can create fun memories doing this together. I thought I would share a list of some of our favorite animal sound books that we’ve found at the library and have at home.

9 Books to Help Your Children Learn Animal Sounds (Interactive Children's Books Included)

Kids Books for Animal Sounds

Noisy Farm (My First Touch and Feel Sound Book): Our daughter loves interactive books so this book is perfect. The buttons are somewhat hard to push for a young baby, but I love the real animal pictures and the fun animal sounds.

Can You Say It, Too? Moo! Moo!: We found this book at the library and we love it. Another interactive lift the flap book that will engage your children in learning animal sounds.

Clifford’s Animal Sounds: I loved Clifford growing up so we love this book about his trip to the farm. It’s a classic book with numerous animal sounds.

Pat the Pet (Lift-the-Flap): This is a classic book with a fun life the flap twist. Our daughter loves guessing what sound each animal makes by lifting the flap to find out.

Can You Say It, Too? Roar! Roar!: This is another version of the Moo Moo book, but with jungle and more exotic animals. We love the bright illustrations and how interactive this book is for our daughter.

Eric Carle: Around the Farm: Play-a-Sound: Don’t you love Eric Carle illustrations? This fun book has buttons on the side to play a sound for each animal. There are so many animals featured in the book and it’s a great interactive book.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Slide and Find: This book doesn’t necessarily feature animal sounds, but we always add them to the story. There are nine animals featured in the book and we love making the sounds when we slide the picture to find the animal.

Barnyard Dance!Sandra Boynton books are so much fun and we love this barnyard dance board book. As the animals dance and sing they make their designated animal sounds. It’s a fun and silly book for toddlers and babies.

Noah and the Animals (Lift-the-Flap): This is our daughter’s favorite book right now. There are so many flips to satisfy her desire to participate in story time. The last page has 11 animal sounds and animals hiding behind the flaps.
