Father Daughter Time

Growing up, every month my dad took me out on a father daughter date. We used to get ice cream, go to the mall or my favorite toy store. I always looked forward to this special time with my dad. When Izzy gets older I hope she treasures dates with her dad as well. Our family loves going on adventures so I started a board on Pinterest dedicated to father daughter time:

I’m still breastfeeding and I work from home so I am blessed to spend a lot of time with Izzy. One way my husband connects with our baby girl is through reading. I love this recent article on dads and reading from the Huffington Post.

The article cites that only 13 precent of dads are the main reader with their children. Our baby girl already has a fairly large collection of books, but we are always looking to add more.

At my baby shower, she received a book from every person who attended. We loved this unique way to add books to her library! I put together a list of my favorite daddy & daughter books to read during bedtime. This are great books to consider gifting to dad for Father’s Day!

Baby Dance  – Our daughter loves music! It’s so cute to see her sway back and forth when she hears it. This book depicts special moments between a father and daughter as mommy sleeps. This board book is aimed toward babies. They will love the playful words and the bright pictures.

Butterfly Kisses – Have you heard the famous song butterfly kisses by Bob Carlisle? This classic book is based on the hit song and depicts a precious relationship between a father and daughter. The book is thoughtful, enjoyable, and will surely bring a smile to your face.

Dance Me, Daddy – This hardcover book is great for preschool age children. It’s an adorable book that celebrates the love between a father and his daughter. The engaging photos and heartwarming words will bless your daughter and her daddy!

Daddy Hugs  – This adorable board book by Karen Katz is the perfect way to bring daddy and daughter closer. The book counts 10 different ways a daddy can hug his baby. It is perfect for babies or very young children. We love a great interactive book.

The Berenstain Bears: We Love Our Dad! – I loved the Berenstain bears growing up and so I was thrilled to find this book. The cubs plan to spoil and celebrate their dad on father’s day. It’s a heartwarming book with great ideas on how to take care of daddy on his special day!

Because Your Daddy Loves You – This book details how father’s lovingly fix problems and share special moments with their children. The father in the story is so patient and helpful and truly treasures his little girl. You will love reading this precious story with your daughter! 

Ten, Nine, Eight – In this sweet book a daddy and daughter countdown to bedtime. I enjoy the cultural diversity of this book. It’s a sweet book for dads and daughters, but it also exposures your children to counting and bedtime routines.
